• Preparing grant financial reports in accordance with donor requirements and ensuring their accuracy and timeliness.
• Reconciliation of expenses in the reports with ledgers and accounting records
• Keeping track of the funding disbursements from donors and to projects
• Generating financial analysis on grant financial information that will provide management with information for decision making.
• Ensuring compliance with the donor grants financial requirements.
• Monitor expenditure of grants on a periodical basis and generate information that is useful for the senior staff members.
• Preparation of annual budget (a complete exercise) for individual programmes, including preparation of Project Fact Sheets, review of grantee budget documents, summaries including variance explanations and budget consolidations.
• Ensuring budgetary control by adequately checking all costs chargeable to the grants.
• Monitoring Grant periods and ensuring that grant phase out financial requirements are adequately met and the grants are smoothly phased out.
• Review funding Requests/projections from the Project Offices relevant to Grants as part of budget control.
• Participate in Grant proposal development and extensions, by providing technical support in development of Grant Budgets that are in line with effective implementation of grants.
• Project visits as and when required for audit as well as for their financial training purposes.
• Provide support for the external audits of the projects
• Any other tasks assigned by the RCOO or RFA.
Qualifications:
1.Five-seven years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management and staff supervision in a non-profit, international development environment. Familiarity and understanding of accounting procedures.
2.Excellent organisational, inter-personal and communications skills.
3.Fluency in English (oral and written) and Arabic.
4.An ability to work within a small team, under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
5.Comfort and experience with using financial analysis techniques using Excel/pivot tables, data base connectivity and tools for managing data.
6.CPA or equivalent experience/education required. Knowledge of donor/grant processes and procedures is highly desirable.
7.Audit experience would be a valuable asset as would additional professional qualifications.
8.The incumbent will be required to exercise a high degree of professionalism and discretion due to the sensitive nature of the position and fiduciary responsibility involved.
