Related experience is a must.
1) To supervise all junior members of staff
2) To be aware of the communication needs of all learners and ensure they receive appropriate input.
3) To provide direct therapy to some students
4) To ensure all staff that work with the learners are appropriately trained to offer specialist support to those with communication difficulties
5) To advocate the rights of those with communication difficulties
6) To offer advice to parents on developing communication skills in their children.
7) To be willing and able to work with any pupil in the school regardless of the severity of their disability.
8) To produce regular and detailed therapy notes, and ensure all Speech and Language therapists/assistants do likewise.
9) To ensure ongoing evaluation of progress against set targets.
10) To provide reports for end of academic year and for the annual review.
11) To ensure new pupils have a full assessment of their communication strengths and weaknesses.
12) To work with other therapists as part of a multi-disciplinary team. |
