Description

Job Description Netways Database Administrator should have started his career as an SQL developer and moved to SQL administration tasks with relevant experience. The DBA is responsible for the performance, integrity and security of a database in addition to planning, development and troubleshooting. His Work will comprise the following activities: • Working on enterprise database architecture, while ensuring scalability • Research, and design date warehouse plan and strategies • Perform Administration tasks on SQL Server to ensure performance (replication, tuning, configuration, troubleshooting, etc ) • Design and implement reporting solutions Responsibilities: As SQL Server Developer, you should be responsible for: • Database Development. • Writing T-SQL statements. • SQL Server Stored Procedures. • Creating Views in SQL Server database. • New objects creation and database design (important) • T-SQL code review to make sure its not going to become a performance night mare. • Providing suggestions for database development tasks. • Working with data architects to design database. • Cleaning data. • Indexing database tables. As DBA, you should be responsible of: • Data remains consistent across the database • Data is clearly defined • Users access data concurrently, in a form that suits their needs • There is provision for data security and recovery control (all data is retrievable in an emergency). • Administering SQL Server Production Database. • Backup and Restore. • Monitoring SQL Server Jobs. • Installing, Configuring database servers. • Troubleshooting SQL Server production issues. • Capacity planning and monitoring database growth. • Replication management. • Managing SQL Server security and logins. • Importing Exporting data using DTS, SSIS packages. • Designing disaster recovery strategies. • Building rebuilding indexes. • Dealing with performance issues on production servers. • Moving objects from QA to Production databases. • mapping out the ‘conceptual design’ for a planned database in outline; • considering both 'back end' organization of data and 'front end' accessibility for end users; • writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data dictionary (‘metadata’); Technical Skills Required The DBA should have Knowledge in: • SQL Server, T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, OLAP, DTS, Clusters, MDX, Data mapping • 3+ year(s) of expert level SQL experience in SQL Server 2005, preferably 2008 • Proficient in writing and optimizing T-SQL code • Skilled in SQL tools such as SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS • Expert Data Loading and ETL experience • Exposure to Data warehouse designs • Extensive knowledge in OLAP • MDX and Performance Point experience • Microsoft certifications preferred MCDBA • Ability to work in a team environment • Be self starting and manage projects full-life cycle
